PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a perfluoroalkylsulfonyl halide, which does not require a large amount of a solvent, has no by-product of a halogen cyanide, is highly safe, completes reaction in a short time, has easy isolation operation and a high yield. SOLUTION: This method for producing a perfluoroalkylsulfonyl halide comprises continuously or intermittently adding a solution of thiuronium salt obtained by reacting a 2-perfluoroalkylethyl iodide with thiourea to a mixed solvent of water and a solvent such as dimethylformamide or the like which is inert to the reaction and can dissolve a part or the whole of the thiuronium salt and a part or the whole of chlorine or bromine in the presence of chlorine or bromine so as to successively chlorosulfonylate or bromosulfonylate the thiuronium salt.
