PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an isolator which has a desired isolator characteristic and is easy to assemble and superior in mass-productivity, at a low price. SOLUTION: Small-sized basic isolators each of which has a holder for a multistage isolator formed of a magnet provided with an opening part having eight recessed parts and holds two polarizers and one Faraday rotator by using two spacer parts are inserted and held while rotated each by 45 deg. along the length of the holder to actualize a four-stage isolator which has a >=50 dB isolation wavelength range of >=400 nm in a wavelength range including a wavelength of 1,500 nm and is small-sized, easy to mass-produce, and inexpensive.
