PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently manage a storing means by presenting the usable residual capacity of the storing means with a numerical value showing the capacity or a time capable of storing a program in a digital broadcasting storage device provided with a data storing means such as a HDD. SOLUTION: The storing means can be efficiently managed by calculating the residual usable capacity of the storing means by comparing a transmission rate of program data with the storing means and presenting to a user the calculated residual usable capacity. Also, the user can intuitively recognize the usable capacity by calculating a residual storable time for a program from the transmission rate of the program designated to be stored and the usable capacity and presenting the calculated residual storable time to the user. In addition, the whole program designated by the user can be stored by enabling the user to select video data of the program to be stored in the storing means or to set an encoding rate of the video data and audio data.
