PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color converter and color converting method capable of independently correcting the areas of six inter-hues between red and yellow, yellow and green, green and cyan, cyan and blue, blue and magenta, and magenta and red without using a mass memory. SOLUTION: A coefficient for specifying a particular area within adjacent inter-hues of red, yellow, green, cyan, blue and magenta is outputted. Among color components of a color represented with first color data, a minimum value of values obtained by multiplying each of hue data representing the magnitude of a minimum color component in at least any area within the inter-hues by the coefficient is selected. An operand for generating an operand which becomes maximum in the particular area and is effective in an area within the inter-hues including the particular area is thereby generated.
