PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct the difference of dot gains between output devices. SOLUTION: The data converting method for converting binary data for a first output device to binary data for a second output device is provided with a binary/multilevel conversion step S1/S3 for converting the binary data for the first output device to multilevel data, a correction step S5 for correcting the multilevel data so that an output density due to the second output device and an output density due to the first output device can become the same and a multilevel/binary conversion step S7 for converting the corrected multilevel data to the binary data for the second output device. Thus, by applying the correction so that the output densities of the first output device and the second output device can be matched, a user can obtain the same output results even without considering the difference of the output devices.
