PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for forming desired air-permeable zones 62 and 64 in the covering material of rod articles, especially in the tobacco-processing industry, having a rotator provided with at least one reflective surface 46 for reflecting energy-rich beams 38 while rotating about a rotational axis 44a for forming the air-permeable perforated zone 62 on the covering material, wherein the reflective surface is provided with at least one partial area 46 which is formed so that the beams 38 reflected from the partial area 46 move upon rotation of the rotator.
