FIELD: devices for frequent switching of electric circuits; electric motor control. SUBSTANCE: contactor has electromagnetic operating mechanism, movable and fixed contacts connected to terminal leads, and also spring-loaded armature disposed in immediate proximity of electromagnetic operating mechanism core; its mobility is enhanced by introducing vacuum chamber and damping member with alignment strap. Vacuum chamber is designed to accommodate movable and fixed contracts and damping member incorporating alignment strap connecting movable contact to spring-loaded armature functions to damp forces during connection of movable contact to fixed one.
