PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chip which can deal with increase in the number of specimens immediately without entrusting its management to a person, and can be managed optically and electronically, and wherein a third person can not know unnecessary personal information on every sample easily, and a method of managing the chip and ID information on the chip. SOLUTION: A plurality of minute dot marks M consisting of upheaved projections whose length along the mark formation surface of which the part upheaves is 1.0-15.0μm and whose height is 0.01-5.0μm are formed on the area 9 except the micro array formation area 8 of the chip 7 for the gene test. ID information such as the sample donor name of the chip 7, the test data and the test result can be read by the dot marks M. The chip is managed by making readable the information selectively.
