<p>A virus has been isolated, capable of reproducing in sows the reproductive alterations associated with porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS) and in piglets, respiratory disorders, which may be used in the formulation of a vaccine capable of protecting sows against PRRS. A vaccine is described which contains a suitable quantity of viral antigen, inactivated, as well as a suitable adjuvant. The vaccine has proven to be efficacious in experiments of challenge with PRRS viruses different from the described Spanish strain. DNA sequences of Open Reading Frames 3 to 7 of the isolated virus, together with the corresponding amino acid sequences, are disclosed.</p> |
