PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a portable terminal used for a search system to send the current position to the search center even if a switch is operated once receiving a trace command from the search center. SOLUTION: The portable terminal for the search system which traces and monitors the current position of the portable terminal by a center device is equipped with a switch for switching search software of the portable terminal between an operation state and a nonoperation state, a detection part which detects the current position, a current position transmission part which transmits current position information detected by the detection part to the center device, and a switching operation inhibition part which invalidates the switching processing of the switch until a trace cancel signal is received once a trace signal is received from the center device.
