PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data reproducing device that can decode the data correctly while suppressing the drop of the transfer rate. SOLUTION: In a data reproducing device that generates decoded data by applying a decoding process to the reproduced signals from a recording medium according to the repetitive decoding matching the turbo encoding and reproduces the recorded data by applying predetermined error correction to the above decoded data, the data reproducing device has an error detector (48) to detect errors in the above decoded data, a first decision means (48, S2) to decide whether it is possible or not to correct the errors detected by the above detector (48), and a decoding controller (48, S3) to stop the above decoding process when it is possible.
