PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal in which the reference direction of information to be displayed can be automatically switched and the reference direction of the information can be immediately changed even when it is desired to manually change the reference direction. SOLUTION: In the portable terminal having a display part 6 for displaying information to be presented to a user, a back display part 7 and a strap mounting part for mounting a hand strap 11, the strap mounting part is equipped with a detection part 10 for detecting whether or not a tensile force is exerted upon the hand strap 11 mounted on the strap mounting part, and a control circuit part 5 is provided for switching the direction of the information to be displayed on the back display part 7 in accordance with the detected result of the detection part 10.
