HORIZONTALLY-OPPOSED DISCHARGE TYPE PLATE LAMP

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a horizontally-opposed discharge type plate lamp having stable discharge and high luminance. SOLUTION: This horizontally-opposed discharge type plate lamp is provided with a front face substrate and a back face substrate arranged to be opposed to each other with a prescribed space; a wall body provided between the front face substrate and the back face substrate to form a closed discharge space filled with discharge gas; and a large number of electrodes provided at the opposed faces of the front face substrate and back face substrate. The front face electrodes and back face electrodes are striped electrodes arranged to be shifted from each other. The distance between the discharge electrodes is thereby made long, and numerous micro discharge occurs at chip electrodes extending from the striped side faces, and the non-formed parts of chip electrodes of the corresponding electrode. A concentration phenomenon of a current is thereby prevented, so that a uniform discharge phenomenon occurs while improving luminance. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
