PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lid fitting device for a cup type automatic vending machine, capable of notifying a buyer, when a lid has not been properly fitted on a cup, to that effect, and of re-implementing the fitting of the lid on the cup. SOLUTION: The lid fitting device for the cup type automatic vending machine, designed to fit the lid L on the cup C with drink when it is sold, comprises a lid fitting means performing an operation to fit the lid L on the cup C, and an infrared ray displacement sensor 163 detecting whether the lid L is properly fitted on the cup C or not after the fitting operation is performed by this lid fitting means.
