PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid epoxy compound which is trifunctional, has a low chorine content, and is useful as a diluent in various applications, especially as a liquid sealant in electronic material applications; and a method for manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: A triallyl ether compound represented by formula (2): R[-(OCH<SB>2</SB>CH<SB>2</SB>)<SB>n</SB>-O-CH<SB>2</SB>-CH=CH<SB>2</SB>]<SB>3</SB>(wherein R is a trivalent hydrocarbon group to which three different carbon atoms are bonded and which is a 3-10C linear or branched hydrocarbon group, a cycloalkane group, or a 7-20C hydrocarbon group comprising a linear hydrocarbon group or groups and a cycloalkane ring or rings; and n is 0, 1 or 2) is epoxidized by a peroxide to give a liquid epoxy compound which is trifunctional, has a total chlorine content of 100 ppm or lower, and is represented by formula (1): R[-(OCH<SB>2</SB>CH<SB>2</SB>)<SB>n</SB>-OG]<SB>3</SB>(wherein R and n are each the same as in formula (1); and G is glycidyl).
