PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radio communication device whose power consumption are suppressed by lightening the load of processing on the radio communication device and host equipment connected to the radio communication device, and to provide an input/output control method for speech data. SOLUTION: A speech input/output terminal 5 to which a headset 6 is connected is equipped with a contact switch 16 for detecting its connection state (whether the headset is connected) and the connection state is reported to a central processing control part 11 through a line 17. This device 1 switches transmission and reception of speech data to the side of HCI 15 of the device 1 or the side of the headset 6 by detecting whether the contact switch 17 of the speech input/output terminal 16 is on or off to reduce unnecessary loads on the device 1 and host equipment 2, thereby reducing unnecessary power consumption.
