PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser diode driving unit which is capable of providing a high-quality image with a little unevenness in density by reducing a fluctuation in light quantity of an LD due to a temperature, in an imaging device having a multibeam laser. SOLUTION: When conducting an automatic current control, the LD driving unit 1 of the imaging device using a multibeam laser controls an order in which driving currents are output from an LD driver 14 to make LDs 171-174 emit light in a prescribed order. Consequently, the automatic current control can be done with thermal influences from adjacent light emitting points being suppressed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
