PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a switching element or the like from being damaged due to faulty connection of a smoothing capacitor, inability of DC output detection and feedback being not given to a control circuit. SOLUTION: This switching power supply unit includes an auxiliary rectifying and smoothing circuit, branched from a line for obtaining the DC output by rectifying and smoothing the output of an inductance element accompanied by ON/OFF operations of the switching element. The DC output of the branched auxiliary rectifying and smoothing circuit is fed back to an error input terminal of the control circuit. Since the load of the branched line is small, an element of small size and capacity can be used as the smoothing capacitor. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
