PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display a pseudo pause image even when a recorder does not output a data stream including image data for a pause when the recorder is in a pause state, and to report to a user that the recorder is in the pause state. SOLUTION: When the recorder 150 is in a reproduction state and the user instructs the pause to a controller 112, the controller 112 sends a pause command to the recorder 150 and makes the recorder 150 the pause state. Also, at that point, the controller 112 instructs the write stoppage of an output buffer to a video decoder 124. In this case, in the output buffer, overwrite is inhibited, the last video data VD in the reproduction state are held, and the video data VD are repeatedly read.
