PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To speedily and surely transmit picture information while effectively utilizing the merit of electronic mail. SOLUTION: When error mail is received from an SMTP server 4, an Internet facsimile equipment (IFAX)1 immediately transmits picture information to a recipient by a facsimile transmission. Therefore, even when abnormality occurs in the transmission of the picture information due to electronic mail because of a factor on a transmitting side such as an error of a destination mail address or any other factor such as the down of a server 7 of a POP3, the picture information can be speedily and surely transmitted to the recipient while effectively utilizing the merit of electronic mail.
