PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal converter which is improved in heat resistance, radiates sufficient far infrared radiation heat or radiation heat for a long time and is improved in efficiency of combustion heat. SOLUTION: In the thermal converter, a wavelet heating plate 2 composed of super-heat-resistant steel with a ceramic 4 to be heated to radiate far infrared rays mounted having prescribed thickness and a wavelet super-heat-resistant steel sheet 1 are arranged at a prescribed interval opposite to a lateral side 2a of the super-heat-resistant steel, a combustion chamber 3 is formed by positioning them at longitudinal positions, a number of slit-like or circular through holes 5 are bored on the heating plate 2 to partially directly expose the heating plate 2 on the side of the ceramic 4 on its surface under an open flame within the combustion chamber, and heating sources (6 and 7) such as combustion gases or electric heaters in the middle are located under the combustion chamber 3. Then, a processing face 11 is heated by the far infrared radiation heat and the radiation heat from the surface of the ceramic 4 of the heating plate heated by the heating sources.
