PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dispense with an electric control to reduce the cost in a piercing cutter for forming an opening in a workpiece, and to attain the space saving and improvement in workability and safety in its carrying-in work to a factory by miniaturization. SOLUTION: A cover 40 is vertically movably set on a frame 26 on a frame 20 in relation to the workpiece 1 set on a jig 25. A limit switch 60 is actuated at the bottom position of the cover 40 by the pulling-down operation of the cover 40, and a piercing cutting edge 30 is lowered by the drive of an air cylinder 32 to automatically subject the workpiece 1 to piercing cutting treatment. Accordingly, electric parts and wiring are abolished by abolishing a phototube (area sensor), a push button and the like, and the miniaturization of the frame 20 and the safety protection in work are also attained.
