PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an objective lens adequately usable for an objective lens scanning microscope which makes higher resolution and wider area of a visual field range possible. SOLUTION: The objective lens has a first lens group having positive refracting power and a second lens group 2 arranged nearer the specimen side than the first lens group. The first lens group 1 includes at least one lens and the second lens group 2 includes at least one optical element. The objective lens is constructed to satisfy the conditions:ν<SB>d</SB>LD>;ν<SB>d</SB>HD-0.56≤ψ<SB>11</SB>(1)/ψT≤0.56, whereυ<SB>d</SB>LD is the Abbe number of the lenses of the first lens group,ψ<SB>11</SB>(1) is the refracting power of the first surface of the second lens group, andψT is the refracting power of the entire system.
