PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a combustion method for an ash melting furnace which prevents an increase of a quantity of fuel and further reducing NOx. SOLUTION: In the combustion method for the ash melting furnace, ash is led into a melting chamber 5, it is melted by a combustion device 4 provided with a combustion air supply nozzle 11 for raising the temperature with a fuel supply nozzle 12 arranged in an interior and a combustion air supply nozzle 13 for low NOx provided in a portion different to the combustion air supply nozzle 11 for raising the temperature, molten slag is discharged from a slag discharging chamber 7, and exhaust gas generated in the melting chamber is led into a secondary combustion chamber 2 provided in a position nearer to an ash input port to burn unburned combustibles. A part of the exhaust gas generated in the melting chamber 5 is extracted from a side wall part of the slag discharging chamber 7 via an exhaust gas lead-in pipe 22, and the exhaust gas is led into the combustion air supply nozzle 11 for raising the temperature of the combustion device 4.
