PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image sensor used for processing image information for supporting e.g. a safety operation of a vehicle and adaptive to any environment wherein the vehicle is located. SOLUTION: A plurality of light receiving elements are laid out nearly in a matrix shape in a horizontal direction H and a vertical direction V, comprise a first light receiving element group 11 placed in the horizontal direction and a second light receiving element group 12 placed in the horizontal direction and each light receiving element of which receives a second light receiving amount different from a first light receiving amount received by each light receiving element 13 of the light receiving element group 11, and the areas for the openings of the light receiving elements are made different for the purpose or a condenser lens is added to each opening.
