PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting a current of a DC-DC converter for detecting the current by using a protective MOSFET switched on in a normal time, and to provide the DC-DC converter. SOLUTION: The method for detecting the current of the DC-DC converter having the protective field effect transistor (MOSFET) that is switched on in a normal time and disconnects a circuit at an abnormal time comprises steps of applying a predetermined on-gate voltage between a gate and a source of the MOSFET, and calculating a drain current Id of the MOSFET according to a voltage difference in applying the on-gate voltage Vds between the drain and the source of the MOSFET.
