PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of a conventional switching power unit that an excessive bias current is made to flow in a burst period since the same bias currents are supplied in a burst period and in a usual operation period, so that it is difficult to reduce power consumption on standby. SOLUTION: In the burst period until the output of an error amplifier reaches a certain value after the vanishment of the magnetic flux of a transformer, the bias current supplied to a control circuit is reduced. The power consumption, especially, the power consumption on standby becomes small, and besides the power unit can be constituted only by adding a gate and a bias circuit to a conventional control circuit.
