PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sitting-load detector which sandwiches a strain element stably and by which a load loaded on a vehicle seat cushion due to its bending is detected correctly. SOLUTION: A sensor unit 8 is provided with the strain element 14; pressor- foot plates 15 to 18; and shims 19 to 22. The strain element 14 is formed of a flat plate, and a detecting element 25 used to detect a strain of the strain element 14 is pasted in its nearly central position. The detecting element 25 is bent together with the strain element 14 so as to output an electrical signal according to its bending. One end of the strain element 14 is sandwiched between the pressor-foot plates 15, 16 as a first pair, and the other end is sandwiched between the pressor-foot plates 17, 18 as a second pair. A bracket 13 on the mounting side of a lower arm is provided with a connecting shaft 13b so as to be inserted into, and passed through, a connecting hole 30 formed in a bracket 23 on the mounting side of an upper rail.
