PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a usage of a scale suppression agent proper when suppressing scale generated in a boiler device by use of the scale suppression agent. SOLUTION: This boiler device 1 has a water tube boiler 2 heating feedwater to generate steam, and a feedwater device 3 for feeding the feedwater to the water tube boiler 2. A method for suppressing generation of the scale in the water tube boiler 2 by use of the scale suppression agent includes: a decision process for deciding whether a hardness component is contained in the feedwater heated in the water tube boiler 2 or not, by use of a hardness component concentration decision device; and a process for supplying the scale suppression agent from a chemical supply device 4 to at least one of the feedwater device 3 and the water tube boiler 2 when it is decided that the hardness component is contained in the feedwater heated in the water tube boiler 2 in the decision process.
