PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer which can reduce decrease in RAM using efficiency and printing speed in images including color regions only at a part of pages. SOLUTION: The printer including a memory for storing recording data and a recording head for color with a plurality of recording elements arranged prints images obtained with the use of stored recording data. The printer has a scanning part for scanning the recording head in a direction different from an arrangement direction of recording elements, for example, in a right-angle direction, a write part which carries out a process of writing data corresponding to recording elements in an arrangement order of the recording elements for every color, into each address of every column obtained by dividing a part or the whole of addresses of consecutive numbers held by the memory by an integer not smaller than a total number of the recording elements, and a constitution part for reading out the recording data from the memory synchronously with scanning of the recording head by the scanning part.
