PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To fix a movable jaw in a monkey spanner (monkey wrench) for tightening or loosening nuts. SOLUTION: In a spanner for tightening or loosening nuts by holding nuts 9 between a fixed jaw 3 provided on one end of a handle 2 and a movable jaw 4 provided in a reciprocally movable manner with respect to the fixed jaw 3, a hooking stepped part 10 is provided on a lower part of a holding surface 8 of the movable jaw 4, a downward pressure is given to the hooking stepped part 10 by the nuts 9, and the movable jaw 4 is pressed against and fixed to a sliding surface 11 of a spanner body 1.
