PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent early breakage by preventing a floating phenomenon of a chip caused by manufacturing errors or the like in a cutting tool such as a bite for a lathe used with a through-away chip mounted on a chip seat recessed in a tool head. SOLUTION: This cutting tool is designed to make the throw-away chip 2 inserted into the chip seat 3 recessed in the tool head 1 and secured in place by a fixing tool such as a clamp or the like. The chip seat 3 has an abutting part which abuts on the side face of the slow-away chip and thus restrains the chip. A noncontact part not to be in contact with the chip even in a solid state is formed in a position of a bottom side from the abutting part on the wall surface 3a of the chip seat.
