PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display system and a image display method without causing any effect on a luminance level of a master screen by deactivating automatic control when the luminance of a slave screen is greatly changed although the luminance level is automatically controlled accordingly when the luminance of the master screen is greatly changed in the case of displaying a plurality of images on the master screen and the slave screen. SOLUTION: In the image display system provided with two cases for an image signal generating unit for generating an image signal for drawing an image and an image display unit for displaying the image signal wherein the image signal generating unit transmits the image signal to the image display unit, when a plurality of input images whose display sizes are magnified/reduced are simultaneously drawn, the luminance control is performed at image drawing on the basis of luminance information of the image source drawn in the largest size.
