<p>Preparation of carbazole involves dehydrogenation of 2-phenylaniline (I), diphenylamine (II) or N-cyclohexylidenyl-aniline (III; anil) or aminative dehydrogenation of 2-cyclohexylidenyl-cyclohexanone (IV; dianone) or its tautomer 2-(cyclohex-1-enyl)-cyclohexanone (IVa), 2-(cyclohex-1-enyl)-cyclohexanol (V), 2-phenylcyclohexanol (VI), 2-cyclohexylphenol (VII), 2-phenylphenol (VIII), 2-cyclohexyl-cyclohexanone (IX) or 2-cyclohexyl-cyclohexanol (X) at elevated temperature over a catalyst (A) comprising or containing iridium at 300-600 degrees C in the presence of hydrogen.</p> |
