SUBSTANCE: high-speed gas valve designed for fast and high-precision check of gas medium at inlet gas pressure not over 10 mm of mercury has cylindrical pipe of heat-resistant insulating material accommodating four metal grid-type electrodes built therein for ionizing gas particles and accelerating them toward valve inlet; valve inlet grid (cathode grid) is heated to emit free electrons and is connected to minus terminal of power supply; next (control) grid is disposed in immediate proximity of cathode grid and functions to control gas particle ionizing current; anode grid, third from valve inlet, is connected to plus terminal of power supply and functions to build up electric fields in space between cathode and anode grids as well as between anode and screen grids, the latter being fourth grid of valve connected to minus terminal of power supply; valve is controlled by voltages applied to its grids.
