<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control reactive power in a non-utility generator set wherein voltage fluctuation in load equipment arising from power factor control at a network connection point can be automatically controlled, power can be saved, and products can be produced with stability. <P>SOLUTION: A control method is for reactive power in a non-utility generator set wherein a plurality of generators are arranged in parallel. In the method, voltage fluctuation due to load equipment of tertiary winding is controlled according to fluctuation in reactive power in a generator connected to an electric power system through a three-winding transformer. A computer for control is fed with set values of the active power/reactive power received, the active power/reactive power of each generator, and the voltage signal in the load equipment of the tertiary winding. If the received power factor is out of a set range with respect to each generator, the computer outputs a signal to instruct an automatic voltage regulator to increase or decrease voltage. If the voltage of the load equipment of tertiary winding is out of a set range with respect to the generator connecting to the three-winding transformer, the computer outputs a signal to instruct the automatic voltage regulator to increase or decrease voltage.
