The present invention relates to the field of liquid crystal, especially relates to a liquid crystal composition and an application thereof in the field of liquid crystal display. The liquid crystal composition of the invention comprises the following components by weight portions: ) 5-40 parts of one or more of compounds represented by general formula I, 2-30 parts of one or more of compounds represented by general formula II, 20-70 parts of one or more of compounds represented by general formula III. The composition also may comprises 4-30 parts of one or more of compounds represented by general formula IV, or/and 5-25 parts of one or more of compounds represented by general formula V - general formula VI. By cooperation of the compounds above, the rotary viscosity of the liquid crystal composition can be effectively reduced, and the related properties of the mixing liquid crystal can be improved, and thus the response time is reduced. The present liquid crystal composition can be used in LCD rapid response of plural display modes.
