<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a single polarized light state of simple configuration and a low cost. <P>SOLUTION: The optical device includes a first port 22 which is connected to a first optical fiber 22a, a depolarizing section 28 on which the light from this port is made incident, a polarized light separating section 29, and second and third ports 23 and 24 which are respectively connected to second and third optical fibers 23a and 24a. The depolarizing section 28 is a means for eliminating the polarized light state of the incident light without depending upon time and the separating section 29 consists of a light transmission type optical member, is arranged on the progressing direction side of the incident light with respect to the depolarizing section, can separate the incident light of the non-polarized light state to two polarized light components at a specified ratio, and can emit the one separated polarized light component to the second port 23 and the other polarized light component to the third port 24, respectively. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
