<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device capable of realizing high speed response characteristics and also high luminance characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device consists of an electrode substrate on which a plurality of pixel electrodes are formed in a matrix shape, a counter substrate on which a counter electrode and a bend alignment liquid crystal layer interposed therebetween. The pixel electrodes are constituted of a peripheral electrode part and a central electrode part enclosed by the peripheral electrode part and the voltage higher than the voltage applied to the liquid crystal layer positioned between the pixel electrodes of the central electrode part and the counter electrode is applied to the liquid crystal layer positioned between the pixel electrodes of the peripheral electrode part and the counter electrode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
