<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve display quality and to reduce thickness and weight of a display device as a whole, in the display device implementing display by switching between a display mode and a mirror mode. <P>SOLUTION: The display device 100A is provided with a reflective polarizing plate 110 which transmits first polarized light and reflects second polarized light with an axis of polarization intersecting the first polarized light's axis of polarization and is provided with display parts 120, 130, 140, 150, 160 to emit the first polarized light as display light, a translucent cover glass 104 and a control device to control the display parts. The control device switches between the display mode in which the first polarized light is emitted from the display parts as the display light and the mirror mode in which the first polarized light is not emitted from the display parts. As the reflective polarizing plate 110 is disposed on the observer's side of the cover glass 104, the reflective polarizing plate 110 is disposed thereto subsequent to mounting of the display device on the inside region of the cover glass 104. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
