OPTICAL FIBER BY USING PHOTONIC BAND GAP AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME

PURPOSE: An optical fiber by using a photonic band gap and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to allow the optical fiber to totally reflect the light beam projected on the core of the optical fiber by forming the cladding layer with a multi-layer. CONSTITUTION: An optical fiber by using a photonic band gap includes a core(201) and a cladding layer(202). The core(201) is formed with a material having a predetermined refractive index and with a predetermined diameter and a length. And, the cladding layer(202) is formed by alternatively depositing two dielectric materials having a different refractive index from each other. The cladding layer(202) encompasses the core(201).
