WAVELENGTH CONVERTING LASER BEAM SOURCE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppresses production of noise in wavelength converted beam in a wavelength converting laser beam source which comprises a semiconductor laser which emits fundamental waves containing a plurality of vertical modes and an optical wavelength conversion element which converts the wavelength of the fundamental waves emitting from the semiconductor laser.

SOLUTION: In the wavelength converting laser beam source equipped with a semiconductor laser 10 which emits fundamental waves 11 including a plurality of vertical modes and an optical wavelength conversion element 20 which converts the wavelength of the fundamental waves 11 emitting from the semiconductor laser 10, the interval in the wavelengths in the vertical modes of the semiconductor laser 10 is controlled to be smaller than the half-width of the phase matching wave of the optical wavelength conversion element 20.
