<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for processing an unrecoverable error on a dedicated channel and an associated wireless device. <P>SOLUTION: The UE can detect an RLC unrecoverable error and an RL failure. The two errors are handled differently while the UE is in a dedicated channel (DCH) state. The RL failure leads to execution of RAB release steps, characterized by utilizing respective timer values to determine if associated RABs should be released. The RLC unrecoverable error is not permitted to execute the RAB release steps. This operation prevents unnecessary interruption of services.
