<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems in a compressor for vehicle installation wherein miniaturization is particularly demanded in recent years from the viewpoint of vehicle installation space and in consequence, miniaturization is demanded from a pulley which constitutes a power transmission mechanism, which means an increase in the rotating speed of the compressor compared with engine speed, and moreover strict durability references particularly in a high rotating speed range are demanded from the compressor in recent years, which leads to the demand of strict durability particularly from a shaft sealing device carrying out sealing operation between the interior of the compressor and the atmosphere side. <P>SOLUTION: The rotation of the power transmission mechanism is reduced by a reduction gear. The rotation of a rotating shaft coming in sliding contact with the shaft sealing device is thereby reduced to suppress the sliding heat generation of the shaft sealing device to thereby improve the reliability of the shaft sealing device.
