FIELD: manufacture of engines; piston-type machines. ^ SUBSTANCE: proposed connecting rod and piston assembly has piston head made in form of thin-walled sphere whose outer diameter is equal to 0.9-0.98 of outer diameter of piston; spherical seat of piston has circular recess near zone of location of piston rings; this recess is engageable with spherical head of connecting rod forming circular cavity for oil cooling of piston. ^ EFFECT: low cost of piston material; increased service life of connecting rod bearing due to reduction of inertia force of reciprocating motion of masses of connecting rod and piston assembly. ^ 1 dwg
