FIELD: rolled stock production, namely processes of exploiting rolling rolls, for example in two-high and four-high sheet rolling mills. ^ SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of mechanically taking off damaged layer of roll barrels; assembling them with chocks; completing to paired upper and lower rolls; mounting rolls for their further operation in stand. When diameter of one roll achieves minimum designed diameter of roll barrel it is completed to pair with roll having large diameter of its barrel which is mounted in stand as upper roll. Relation of diameters of roll barrels of upper and lower rolls is set no more than 1.2. Diameter of upper roll is set no less than difference between two minimum designed diameters of barrel and diameter of lower roll. ^ EFFECT: lowered consumption of rolls due to possibility of using rolls after wear at keeping stable rolling process. ^ 2 cl, 4 ex
