PURPOSE: A device and a method for updating information are provided to automatically perform download by checking that an image or an application inputted to a terminal through the network without user's recognition is updated. CONSTITUTION: A server(102) provides the information for the databases(102-3,102-4) storing the application or the image through the network(100). The terminal(101) accesses the database related information by connecting to the server. The terminal includes a checker(101-1) checking that the present application or image of the terminal is updated by periodically connecting to the server, a display(101-2) displaying that the present application or image is updated, and a downloader(101-3) downloading the application or the image from the database if a download confirmation signal is received.
