Video sequence analyzing process for use in communication network e.g. TCP/IP, involves analyzing temporal information to decide necessity of generation of request to camera for obtaining special activity information

The process involves obtaining information representing temporal activity of a video sequence presented at a level of camera. The temporal information is analyzed to decide the necessity of generation of a request to the camera for obtaining spatial activity information. The temporal information is analyzed by generating an index of the temporal activity and comparing the index with a predefined threshold index. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) an analyzing device of a video sequence provided at a level of a camera in a communication network having a receiver device (b) a communication receiver device incorporating the analyzing device (c) an information recording medium readable by a computer, having computer program instructions for the execution of the method of processing a video sequence (d) a computer program stored in a programmable device, including instruction sequences of software code for implementing the stages of the analyzing process.
