The method involves producing a de-interlaced video signal (Sde) in an output (S) by interpolation of pixels missing from an interlaced video signal in an input (E). The interpolation on the video signal is done by making decision on variable degree of spatial interpolation and/or temporal interpolation in the signal (Sde). The decision making is done, based on detection of pixel movement in an image zone. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) an apparatus for de-interlacing a video signal (b) a video visualization apparatus comprising a video signal de-interlacing apparatus.
