FIELD: counting devices. ^ SUBSTANCE: proposed method involves changing of multistage counter readings in response to count signals, respective count signal being applied to single-stage reference counter in response to each predetermined count signal applied to multistage counter that corresponds to predetermined reading of the latter which causes unidirectional change of mentioned single-stage counter reading; determination of respective readings of multistage and single-stage counters; comparison of values obtained from multistage and single-stage counters; and generation of signal corresponding to comparison results. Device implementing proposed method has multistage counter, auxiliary single-stage reference counter, and control unit. ^ EFFECT: improved protection against probable tampering with counting results. ^ 4 cl, 1 dwg |
